Driven by Net Zero aspirations, and as a representative body of the resources and energy sector, CORE is committed to facilitating a just and equitable transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.

Promoting and facilitating the transition to a sustainable energy future in Papua New Guinea by advocating for policies, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation within the energy and resources sector.
Key Objectives:
- Promote Renewable Energy: Advocate for policies and incentives that encourage the development and deployment of renewable energy sources to diversify Papua New Guinea’s energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
- Enhance Energy Efficiency: Support efforts to improve energy efficiency across all sectors through the adoption of energy-efficient technologies, practices, and standards.
- Foster Innovation and Research: Promote investment in research, development, and innovation to drive technological advancements in clean energy, energy storage, and energy management solutions tailored to Papua New Guinea’s unique context.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
PNG CORE will collaborate closely with its members, government agencies, industry stakeholders, and other pertinent entities to facilitate the monitoring and reporting of Energy Transition initiatives. This encompasses establishing baselines and over-time benchmarks, conducting sector assessments, and transparently reporting on progress toward promoting increased sustainable Energy Transition strategies and initiatives.

Aligned with the principles outlined in the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) Sustainable Development Framework, CORE serves as the leading industry association representing various stakeholders, including government bodies, private enterprises, NGOs, and communities. CORE recognises the scientific consensus of climate change and is dedicated to fostering collaboration and driving impactful initiatives toward climate resilience and sustainability.
